Pair a device
Connect your machine to your workspace so work can run on it.
Signing in gets you the app. Pairing is what makes your machine available as a host for a particular workspace.
Steps
- In the desktop app, go to Connect device (or open
/connect-device). - Register this machine. It appears in your workspace's device list.
- Confirm it reports online. A paired device that never reports is paired but not usable.
You're done when the device shows online and Studio offers it as a host.
Reissuing
If a device stops authenticating — you reinstalled, or the token was rotated — reissue its token rather than registering a second device. Two registrations for one machine make it ambiguous which one work should run on.
Gotchas
- Pairing is per workspace. A machine paired to one workspace is not automatically a host for another.
- Online means reachable now. A sleeping laptop reports offline; that is accurate, not an error.
